Why Teach English in Myanmar?

If you’re looking for a truly raw and authentic experience on the road less travelled then our Teach English in Myanmar program is for you.

No-degree is required for this program and earning potentials are high.

Teachers typically earn just under R20 000.00 per month.

Despite slow political change, the country is fast becoming a destination of choice for international travellers seeking unique adventures and cultural enrichment thanks to the very low travel costs, incredible sights and the mix of cultures from all over Southeast Asia.

Described as the next Thailand, you’ll be one of the first teachers to experience the buzzing local environment full of opportunities for adventurous, long-term visitors and your 6 month full-time teaching position will provide valuable English skills to the Burmese people.

Requirements
  • A passport from the USA, Canada, UK, Ireland, South Africa, Australia or New Zealand

  • Bachelor’s degrees are not required, however some teaching experience is preferred if you don’t have a bachelor’s degree

  • TESOL or TEFL certificate – minimum 120-hour course. If you already hold a recognised certificate, you may be eligible for our placement & orientation only option.

  • Between 21 and 45 years of age

  • Good health. You may have to take a medical exam when you arrive in Myanmar and this may include a blood test.

How long is a teaching contract in Myanmar?

Placements are for 1 semester (6 months).

What if I don’t have a TEFL/TESOL certificate?

We offer both in-class and online Internationally Accredited TEFL/TESOL courses to prepare you for your adventure abroad. Just ask us how

About our IN COUNTRY TESOL/TEFL course

We offer both an accredited online or in-class option for anyone who doesn’t have a TESOL or equivalent certificate.

If you already have a 120-hour TESOL or equivalent, our placement team will review your application and confirm whether your qualification is valid.

Many TESOL courses are not accredited and do not provide adequate preparation for teaching. That’s why we recommend completing our 120-hour in-class TESOL in Myanmar. It will give you the best possible preparation and ensure that your students get the best education.

The TESOL Course is a 4 week course which takes place in Yangon, Myanmar and is tailored specifically for those preparing to teach English in Myanmar.

 

It consists of a 5 day cultural orientation program followed by 3 weeks of theory and practical learning.

You’ll also get to meet fellow teachers and forge new friendships while participating in exciting cultural activities and excursions.

What else do you need to budget for?

You’ll also need to budget for various other expenses, not payable to us or our partners, which allow you to legally teach abroad plus the cost of travel to your destination and insurance for your trip.

Flights, Insurance and additional documentation (we will be able to assist you with all of this, so don't worry, we will help) Accommodation for your first month in Myanmar will need to be paid upon arrival. We will assist in setting it up for you. Any additional things that you will need to purchase on arrival that you did not bring with will be at your own expense, along with daily expenses, food etc. 

Make sure to budget for your first month working too, as your first pay check will be at the end of that month.
